Wow... It's been a while!

Forgive me Father, for I have not blogged in almost a year... LOL

I can't believe it has been nearly a year since my last blog.

I'm trying to think of all the things that have happened in the last 10 months... Let's see, I moved closer to work so I can save money on rent and gas... I've sold a few pieces of art and a few of my 2010 calendars (about 16 so far!) Mom and Dad went all over the east coast in the RV for almost 3 months. They stopped by just before Thanksgiving for a few days. I drove out to Kitty Hawk, NC to catch them a few weeks before that. That was a nice drive and visit.

I haven't been shooting too much, but I've been commissioned to shoot something for a customer that they are going to give as a Christmas gift. So I have to get hopping on that one.

My brother lost his job this fall and my sister bought her first house in November.

My health seems to be pretty good, and I've been able to hold off the holiday blues this year.
I'll have to think a bit more about what other things have been happening and share that later... :)

Feast or Famine

Well, It's nearing the end of February and I survived the busy season yet again. I had a rough holiday season this year. I have been battling some bouts of depression and poor health this winter which made this year a bit more troublesome than past years.

Leoni and I had a falling out which also didn't make things any easier but here I am, so it seems I'll survive. Now the lab is quite slow and I have some time to get my life back on track and concentrate on getting happy and healthy again.

On the photography front... I had a sale!! I sold a print to Bill Elliott, the Nascar driver, the day before Christmas... What a thrill not just to sell something but to sell it to someone famous. It's definitely the highlight of my Christmas this year.

So... I don't think anyone is reading this stuff but somehow I enjoy sharing it with nobody... lol

Gabe (my boss) and I are still planning on going to Grand Teton and Yellowsone this June. I'm begining to get a little psyched about it. I haven't been back there in a few years and have some cool ideas about some places to go and fish and shoot pictures. I might even risk the heart attack and go on another crazy long hike... LOL!

Well, if anyone does read these lines... as always, check out my website at www.djlampkins.zenfolio.com and look me up on facebook. Later!

It's been a while...

Hey,

Sorry for the long absence. I've been battling a pinched nerve in my neck that has made my days and nights very uncomfortable. With that I've had many days of headaches to survive as well... but today is a better day than most, so here I am. :D

Follow ups on a few things... Leoni and I are still chatting quite often, although we are becoming more like a couple as we chat when we can find the time and don't get all worked up if one of us is a no-show... lol. Also, our meeting may have to get postponed as the price of the flight for her to come here has nearly doubled. We will be re-evaluating the situation often.

Also, my entries in the photo contest were some of the more colorful entries, but unfortunately not among the winners... it was a very interesting experience.

I went to DeSoto Falls on 11-28-08 and enjoyed it very much. It was my first visit and a treat, to be sure, with many photo opportunities. Check out my website for the photos in the Georgia folder at http://djlampkins.zenfolio.com/ .

We are expecting a dusting of snow here sometime this evening and hope to get a few shots if it really happens... LOL

I had a nice thanksgiving holiday. I made turkey, stuffing, potatoes and pumpkin pie for myself and I'm still nibbling on the last of the turkey... Had a bad headache all day but forced myself to do the cooking anyway... by 5pm the headache was gone but thankfully not my appetite. I hope y'all had a nice turkey day, too.

I note to friends and family: I love and miss you all, especially at this time of year, when the miles seem to go on forever...

So, I'll say goodbye for now...

The busy season has arrived!

The lab's busy season has begun and business is booming... Lot's to keep me busy. But the store is still in a bit of flux as we are still getting organized from the move. The frameshop is marked for a move date of 9/20. Then we should be all ready to roll... :D

Leoni and I are still chatting twice a day via Google Talk and we had our first voice to voice conversation last Sunday... what a treat that was.... she has a wonderful voice and marvelous accent. Suprisingly enough we were both a little tongue tied... no keyboard silence to hide behind. :D

We've decided that she's going to come to the US for a visit in April and she will stay for about 2 weeks.... I can hardly wait. She has filled my heart with hope and joy... things I had begun to give up on...

I can truely say that I've been blessed in our meeting.

All three of my art pieces were accepted into the art contest in Dawsonville, I hope I can get one to place for a cash prize, but even a sale would be nice... :D

Check out the show! Here is a link to the website! http://www.dawsonarts.org/flashintime.htm

Gotta run.... Take care! .................Dave

Exhausted...

August is nearly gone... and our move at work coming to an end.... Sleepless days and nights have been the norm lately...

If you remember the young lady I mentioned on my last post... Her name is Leoni and I've grown quite fond of her. We chat as often as we can and then a little more... LOL. She's had a truely wonderful effect on me and I couldn't thank the good Lord enough for crossing our lives with one another. She's a wonderful artist and you can see her work at: http://mainbearing.deviantart.com/ or http://www.redbubble.com/people/leoni
I know you'll love her work as I do... :)

Til next time.... Dave

Wow, where to start...

The Packers trade away Brett Favre... WTF. I'm like stunned by the whole mess... Amazing turn of events... But I have to say, the Pack decided to move on and did what they thought was best for the "long-term" future of the organization...

On a personal note, I have been spending a lot of time getting to know a lovely young lady, over the last week and a half. She's been a breath of fresh air in my life and I'm very fortunate to have had our lives cross paths. Not sure where it will head but as far as I can see down the road... it's all sunshine and roses... :)

I have a huge original print sale in the works... if it pans out it could mean $220 more pocket change!! I am also going to enter a local art show/contest in Dawsonville, with Grand Prize receiving $175... :)

Monday Night Football is starting so I will close for now.... Good Luck Aaron Rodgers... LOL!
